Some of the recent trends we have been seeing in bathroom remodeling and construction:
• Opening up bathrooms to make them more comfortable. This may involve knocking down some walls or adding “bump outs” to make the space larger and more functional.
• Fixtures that serve more than one purpose. For example a decorative vessel sink out of glass is both a sink but also a piece of art. These beautiful sinks start at as little as a couple of hundred dollars. We like Decolav and Pegasus for their style and affordable prices.
• Combining materials such as tile, wood, glass in one space. Glass tiles are back and making a splash. We often use them as borders or accents to add character yet keep the price affordable.
• Adding a punch of color. Most people like the natural tones – you simply cannot go wrong with them. However, if you are looking to create a very unique space that will define your style, a bold wall color combined with glass tiles and stainless steel fixtures will do just that. We often advise our customers to think about how long they plan to stay in their house. If it is less than three years it is best to go with more traditional / natural choices that will appeal to the next homeowner as well.
According to Remodeling Magazine, “Cost versus Value Report 2007”, the average bathroom remodeling project costs $15,800 yet it instantly increases the value of your home by $12,400. (The average Viking bath remodeling project runs around $10,000.
